Rome to name one of its streets after Hiroshima and Nagasaki
On Friday, the Italian news agency ANSA has said that Rome has decided to give the name of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, to one of its streets.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki are the two cities in Japan that were attacked with atom bombs by the United States in the year 1945. Yesterday that is on 6th of August, it was the 65th anniversary of the bombing of the city of Hiroshima and it was marked by an annual peace ceremony, with the United States signifying for the first time.
The report states that the decision of naming is to show the harmony with the two cities and also to convey the message regarding the massacre of the attacks, to the young people.
To memorialize the victims of the atomic bombings and to oppose the war around August 6th, the 65th anniversary of the Hiroshima attack, the city of Rome has shown high awareness in relation to the issues such as atomic bombs and organized an annual rally in the Pantheon Square.
The Mayor of Hire Car Rome , Giovanni Alemanno on his visit to the Hiroshima city during the month of April in this year, along with the high school students from the city has offered paper cranes, considered as a symbol of peace, to a statue and dedicated to all the children, who were killed in the bomb attack.
By the end of this year, Rome is anticipated to choose the street to be renamed.
